Deborah ScottDeborah came to UCSB in 1999 as the first Director of Student Information Systems and Technologies, after 2 years at QAD, Carpinteria, as Manager of Application Development and Integration and 3 years at Rockwell Network Systems, Goleta, as Manager Information Systems and Networking, following an 11 year run at Raytheon, Goleta, as a design engineer and then as Manager Information Technology Systems. Deborah received her Bachelor Science in Electrical Engineering from California State University, Long Beach, and is currently enrolled in the UCLA Anderson School of Business studying for a Master’s in Business Administration.
Mark McGilvrayMark has been managing I/T organizations for nearly twenty years. His management career consists of 10 years in the Aerospace and Engineering Industries and 8 years in the Commercial Software Development industry. His primary mission has been to build customer-focused teams that provide innovative technology solutions to the Enterprise. During this time he has performed nearly every role in the IT department ranging from Director, software developer, systems administrator to the Help Desk. Mark received a Bachelor’s of Business Administration Degree from Loyola Marymount University in 1981. His focus over the past year has been to propose and initiate several major projects, which include conversion to Outlook, upgrading the NetWare and Windows environments and rolling-out a new Windows XP/Office XP desktop system.
Lubomir BojilovLubo is managing information technology organizations, teams and projects for more than twelve years. He has been a part of the UCSB SIS&T for past six years as Associate Director for Information Systems, Manager Software Development, Team Lead for Student Affairs Software Development, and Project Manager for Financial Aid, EAO & Admissions Information Systems. Before joining UCSB he worked for Silicon Delta Corporation and Connected Systems in Santa Barbara. Previously, Lubo was overseeing systems integration‘s team of InfoGroup Bulgaria, a subsidiary of Balkan Business Group, where he started in 1994. Additionally, from 1993 to 1997, he was a co-founder and in the board of directors for various technology start-up companies. He began research programming in 1985. Lubomir has a Master’s degree in Engineering and a Bachelor's degree in Geodesy, Photogrametry and Mapping Science from the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy - Sofia, Bulgaria and college degrees in Land Surveying and Computer Science. Currently enrolled in the Capella’s School of Business & Technology, studying for a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA), Information Technology Management specialization; In addition, he has received numerous certifications including UCSB Supervisory Certificate, SBCC Computer Science Certificate, and Microsoft Professional certifications: MCP + Internet, MCSE, MCSD and MCDBA.
James KinneavyJames began his software development career in 1992 at San Jose State University where he was working as a financial aid information specialist while providing a dual role automating business processes. In 1996, he was hired as a full-time software developer for the UCSB Financial Aid Office. During his tenure at UCSB, James has made several notable contributions to the productivity of Student Affairs and Student Information Systems & Technology, most significantly the development of a complex but flexible architectural framework that has been used as the foundation for the Financial Aid System, a system that requires significant annual changes due to ever-changing regulations at federal, state, and university levels. Additionally, James has helped mature SIS&T as a development organization through the introduction of modern software engineering techniques and technologies including object-oriented development, the Unified Modeling Language, and iterative-based development processes. Most recently, he has led the adoption of Microsoft’s .Net development platform and pioneered its use on the eGrades web-based grade submission application, and he is currently working on adopting Services Oriented Architectures.
Nancy MaronNancy came to UCSB as a student in 1971, graduating with a BA in History in 1975. She began her UCSB staff career in 1976 as a Library Assistant in the Davidson Library. In 1987, after completing Santa Barbara City College's AA in Computer Science program at night, Nancy took a job in SA's Student Information Systems as a Programmer/Analyst I. This was followed by a stint with the Information Systems and Computing department from 1990 to 2002 as a Computer/Network Technologist II, then Computer/Network Technologist III. In 2002, Nancy came back to SA's Student Information Systems and Technologies and is currently Manager of the Admissions Information Systems Unit.
Lisa GotoLisa started with Student Information Systems and Technology in 1999 as a software developer, after working 4 years for the Financial Aid Office as a Financial Aid Analyst. During the last six years she has been involved with the streamlining of financial aid processes, development and maintenance of the Financial Aid System, and creating a student self-service Financial Aid website. For the last year and a half, she has served as Team Lead for the Financial Aid development team. Lisa received her Bachelor Science in Mathematics from UCSB. In 2005 Lisa was presented the “Citation of Excellence Award” by the UCSB Staff Assembly.
Jennifer JamesJennifer came to UCSB in 1991 as a programmer/analyst with Information Systems and Computing. She was formerly employed two years as a programmer/analyst for The Central Coast Computing Authority, which provided computing services to Santa Barbara City College and Santa Barbara City secondary schools, and, preceding that, one year as a computer operator followed by three years as a programmer/analyst at the Santa Barbara Medical Clinic. She moved to the Office of the Registrar in 1994, initially assuming responsibility for the Registrar’s voice response system (‘RBT’) and their Electronic Transcript project.
Joe SabadoJoe started his professional career with Student Affairs in 1996 as the first web developer for the Division soon after receiving his BA in Political Science with minor in Asian American Studies at UCSB. His current position is Student Services Information Systems Manager, responsible for providing information systems assistance to the Student Academic Support Services and the Student Life & Isla Vista/Community Affairs clusters. Joe has held multiple positions in SIST from web developer, project manager, web architect and web manager. Joe has also worked for UCSB’s Housing and Residential Services, Tenet Healthcare Corporation and Fionda Group as a web developer. As a student, he worked for various Student Affairs departments including EOP (peer advisor, STEP resident assistant), Upward Bound (resident assistant), CLAS (Tagalog tutor, intake counselor), EPCA (intern, facilitator). He was also active with the Asian American and Filipino-American student leaderships working on projects such as the Student Resource Building and on ways of improving academic and support services for Asian American students. His involvement with the students continues today as a staff advisor for Kapatirang Pilipino and Pilipino Cultural Night.
